know more about

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to read about me!  My name is Bryanna Wilfong and I am 30 years old.  I live in Pennsylvania with my husband, 3 year old son, and my Yorkie mix, Bella.  I love laughing and having a good time! Sarcasm is also my second language.  I love spending time with my family, especially the ones I don’t get to see often.  My hobbies include: reading, watching movies with my husband, medical dramas (House M.D. is my favorite show!) and I have a love affair with makeup.  I grew up in a small town in Ohio.  I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (with a molecular/cellular concentration) in 2011, but I have been a stay at home mom since my son was born in 2013.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes right after my 10th birthday.  Throughout the last 20 years I have gone through many ups and downs.  Living with a chronic illness is anything but easy!  I decided to start a blog as a way to vent, but also to share my many experiences living with Type 1.  From 2004-2012 I managed my Type 1 Diabetes with an insulin pump.  I started having a lot of pump site issues, so I went back to injections in 2012.  In October of 2015 I got my Dexcom CGM.  I absolutely love my Dexcom! It’s in invaluable tool.

I haven’t always taken care of myself, but I have many reasons why I should!  I met my husband in 2008, and we were married in June of 2011.  When we talked about starting a family, I knew I had to get my blood sugars under control.  It was the only way for us to have a healthy baby!  My husband, Chris, is my rock.  He was the first person who motivated me as a young adult to take care of myself!  He has always been extremely supportive, but he also gives me a push when I need one.  I don’t know what I would do without him by my side.

The main reason why I take care of myself the best way I know how is my son, Noah. He is the light of my life.  A Type 1 Pregnancy is considered high risk, and it was very difficult.  It was the hardest thing I have ever done, and Noah was worth every minute of it.  He is the happiest little boy I have ever known.  He is always smiling, and loves to make other people smile too!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
